Arezzo: 200 kilos of drugs seized. Two thirty-year-olds residing in Florence and Prato stopped
AREZZO – Two young alleged drug traffickers were arrested by the traffic police on the A1 motorway near Arezzo. The two young men were found in possession of 200 kg of marijuana and 6 kg of hashish. During the usual highway patrol, the Battifolle policemen stopped, for a routine check, a Kia car with an Italian license plate and with two people on board, a man and a woman of about 30, residing in the provinces of Florence and Prato .
The two young people, as soon as they got out of the car, rushed on the officers to hit them with kicks and punches, after looking for a cellophane wrapper in the embankment. They tried to escape to the fields. The agents’ experience, however, did not allow the two to crown the escape attempt with success, nor to make the wrapping disappear: the fugitives were stopped and the package, which contained the drugs, recovered.
Inside, over a pound of narcotic substance, equally divided between hashish and marijuana. From there a quick and effective investigative activity began, which led the Arezzo police, together with their colleagues from Florence and Prato, to search the homes of the two arrested and a farm dedicated to the production of Indian hemp, with the result of the discovery and seizure of about 200 kg of marijuana and 6 kg of hashish, as well as a real greenhouse, where the drug was grown. The facility was then seized and the two were arrested.
