Toulouse. The census will take place until February 26, 2022 –
2004, rather than a general census of the entire population every eight or nine years, surveys are now carried out each year. That of 2022 began on January 4.
In Toulouse and in all municipalities with 10,000 inhabitants or more, an annual survey is conducted with a sample of 8% of the population. These operations are carried out on the basis of an Insee – Toulouse City Hall partnership.
A random draw of addresses is carried out by INSEE. Agents recruited by the Town Hall of Toulouse, provided with an official tricolor card with a photograph and signature of Mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc, carry out surveys of all the dwellings and buildings associated with these addresses.
In Toulouse, the sample represents approximately 3,500 addresses, spread over the entire territory. It is therefore possible that in the same street a person is surveyed but not his neighbour.
When and how does the operation take place?
Enumerators carry out field surveys in two stages:
• Until January 19, they carry out a reconnaissance tour of their sector and distribute an information letter in the mailboxes of reused accommodation. The Toulouse residents concerned are therefore informed no later than January 19.
• Between January 20 and February 26, they are responsible for visiting the residents concerned to deliver an explanatory note for people wishing to register online or leave various documents for people who prefer to complete the questionnaires they will recover later.
When will we know the results of the census?
The statistical results at the municipal and supra-municipal levels are put online on the Internet each year on 1 July. Statistical results by blocks of approximately 2,000 inhabitants are published on the Internet each year in December.
