Euroleague – Monaco winner at Bayern – Sasa Obradovic: “With this victory, everything will be easier”
Thanks to a third away victory last night in Munich (78-83), AS Monaco (8 wins to 11 losses) finds itself at a top 8 victory, and thus still in progress for the playoffs.
Monaco led the game almost from start to finish, and this is a success all the more important given that Bayern are a direct competitor to Roca Team. The Monegasques showed great defensiveness, and Mike Jame showed his best face with 26 points (5/7 three-pointers) and 6 assists. It was he who took matters into his own hands in the money time with three winning baskets in a row, and it was Sasa Obradovic’s entire team who showed formidable long-distance skill: 12/17 .
The shock against the ASVEL scheduled for Tuesday at the Astroballe will be hot!
Sasa Obradovic:
“Defensively we’ve improved, I have to say, first of all. There is of course room for another step to be taken, but I think that with this victory everything will be easier, by analyzing and working on our weaknesses. We can see more of our strengths. The key was good defense. In this room with Bayern who have a lot of weapons, we were pretty good, tough in every position. It’s a great victory. We have shown character.
Mike James:
“The key was just to have more rhythm, to get healthy. Play again. It had been a long time since we had played a real Euroleague match. Just happy to be back. Happy to have won. We hadn’t played a EuroLeague game for a very long time, so we were all a bit out of breath, so we were making little mistakes and not playing our games properly. I think once we started doing that and sharing the ball, it worked for us.
Donatas Motiejunas:
“I think it was defensively that we won the game. Defensively we played for most of the game, did the right things the coach was asking us to do, so the game plan worked. Offensively, we sometimes played a bit selfishly, but in the end everything went well. Mike (James) scored some amazing shots that helped us beat this tough team and we’re happy to get this victory.
