The Hungarian government can prepare for a big deal with Azerbaijan
Hungary and Azerbaijan expand areas of trade and economic co-operation, said Hungarian Foreign and Commonwealth Office Trend portal.
According to the Ministry, this is expected to take place after the February meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on Bilateral Economic Cooperation in Baku.
“We are positive about the further development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Hungarian companies have significantly expanded their presence in the Azerbaijani market in recent years,” he reminded the ministry. “Azerbaijan became Hungary’s 78th largest export partner in 2020. From January to October 2021, Hungary mainly exported beverages, livestock and medicines to Azerbaijan,” the foreign affairs report was quoted as saying.
“Hungary as a whole has telecommunications equipment, sound recorders and players, metal industry machinery and energy production machinery and equipment,” the ministry said.
“In addition, a possible solution to the proven natural gas supply has an important role to play in diversifying Europe’s fuel supply,” the Hungarian side quoted as saying about the February talks.
“Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said during his visit to Baku last year that Hungary would be interested in buying gas from Azerbaijan from 2023. He says Azerbaijan and Hungary could also develop co-operation in agriculture,” the ministry said in a statement.
