22 EUR “Burlesque, at its best, is a poetic but lucid affirmation of our true place in the universe” Petr Kràl
We have to snatch JOY from the days that pass…, the latest creation of the Compagnie du Détour, is subtitled: family burlesque drama… but what can be the place of laughter or even burlesque in a show that has addressed the themes Alzheimer’s disease, recognition (a name that can be heard in many ways when it comes to our subject) and death? Laughter is this means, we respond to Agnès Larroque and Laure Seguette, which allows us to resist the explosion that disease can represent. It also arises from its consequences: repetitions, inconsistencies, omissions … it is one of the driving forces of this fiction which features three sisters: Bérénice, Ophélie, and Marie, all employees of a public service. (respectively health, education and culture) felt as sacrificed. These do not meet
few, except during essential family reunions… they have little in common. However, following the sudden death of their father, Robert, they find themselves having to take care of their mother Denise. So we share the daily life of these four women and their dead: the father whose ashes are preciously preserved in the urn in the shape of a rugby ball and a ghost-brother, messenger and poet.
