HomePod mini: more languages and coming to the Netherlands
If you really wanted a HomePod mini, it was already possible to import one. Some Dutch webshops even sell a nice version of the slim speaker. But you probably don’t have to bother anymore and you can just pick one up at the Dutch Apple stores.
iOS 15.2 has a Dutch language option in the Woning app. This can make the HomePod talk in Dutch and give answers. This would mean that the release of the HomePod (mini) in the Netherlands seems to be happening after all.
New HomePod mini languages: Swedish, Dutch and Russian
The HomePod mini recently started speaking Swedish, but that language option is not included in the current version of the HomePod mini software. According to the website Teknivecka it will still take ‘a few months’ before the Swedish language option is added. At the moment Siri is still having trouble answering questions.
So it looks like the HomePod mini will be released in at least three new countries. These are Russia, the Netherlands and Sweden, but according to rumors, even more countries will be added.
The HomePod (mini) in short
Unfortunately, the HomePod and HomePod mini officially came out in the Netherlands, and often referred to English as one of the useful languages. In the Netherlands you could get some in the house through detours. You can read what we thought of it then in our HomePod review.
With the HomePod mini, Apple is taking a different tack. This speaker is smaller and bigger than its bigger brother. Where the original HomePod sold for $349, the mini ‘only’ costs $99. If you want to purchase the compact Apple speaker via a Dutch webshop, you pay about 100 euros for it.
The way the HomePod mini plays sound has become a lot slimmer with the ‘regular’ HomePod. The device has named ‘Computational Audio’. This is a technique that allows the HomePod mini to adjust the sound to the room.
Now that the HomePod mini speaks more languages, it really does come in advance. Want to stay up to date with the latest HomePod mini news? Then sign up for our newsletter and keep an eye on the iPhoned website!
