Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden tests positive for covid-19 with her husband Prince Daniel days after King Carl XVI and Queen Silvia became infected
Sweden’s royal couple and heirs to the throne have all tested positive for covid-19 and are now isolated.
King Carl XVI Gustaf, 75, and his wife Queen Silvia, 78, were the first members of Swedish royal family to test positive for the virus during the recent outbreak.
Over the weekend, their daughter, Crown Princess Victoria, became infected, followed by her husband Prince Daniel on Sunday.

Their children, Princess Estelle, nine, and Prince Oscar, five, are said to have tested negative so far.
“The Crown Princess, who is fully vaccinated, is experiencing cold symptoms but is otherwise fine,” the royal court said on Saturday.
“Contact tracking has begun.”
This is the second time that Crown Princess Victoria, 44, and Prince Daniel, 48, have had covid-19 after being tested positive in March last year.
“The prince, who is fully vaccinated, has very mild symptoms and is well,” the court added.

The Crown Prince’s family is now isolated in their home, Haga Palace, while King Carl and Queen Silvia are in quarantine at the Royal Palace in Stockholm after testing positive on 4 January.
They have also received both vaccine doses and are believed to have received the booster injection.
The infections come in the middle of a growing fourth wave of the virus, driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant, which has seen Sweden repeatedly report record-breaking daily cases.
In November 2020, Victoria’s brother Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia became infected.
King Carl, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are among a number of royalty throughout Europe who have been infected with coronavirus.

At the end of December Denmark Crown Princess Mary was diagnosed. A year earlier, her eldest son, Prince Christian, became infected while attending school.
Also in December last year, Sir Timothy Laurence, Princess Anne’s husband, tested positive, forcing the couple to miss Christmas with Queen Elizabeth in Windsor.
Both Prince Charles and Prince William have had the virus, while other royals who have been infected since early 2020 include Monaco’s Prince Albert and Norwegian Princess Ingrid.
