More than 5000 criminal proceedings in connection with the corona pandemic – BZ Berlin
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been more than 5000 criminal proceedings in connection with corona measures in Berlin. This is communicated by the Senate Department for Justice in an answer to a written request from the Berlin Left MP Sebastian Schluesselburg to the House of Representatives.
According to this, 2521 criminal proceedings were recorded in the first year of the pandemic and another 2716 by mid-December 2021.
A total of 3322 proceedings have now been completed, 386 of the data issued a penalty order once, with a suspended prison sentence, sometimes without a prison sentence. Fines totaling EUR 121,850 and EUR 152,732 fines were imposed.
In addition, there were a total of 61,947 administrative offense proceedings in connection with violations of corona rules in the period from March 2020 to mid-December 2021, which were determined by the police or employees of the regulatory authorities. More than 42,000 of these have now been completed.

The statistics for the district of Mitte (14,269), von Neukölln (8190), Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf (6714 and Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg (6200), by far the largest number of cases, are by far the lowest in Steglitz-Zehlendorf (1974).
Fines totaling 2,718,545 euros were imposed during the proceedings – this does not include the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, which has not provided any information. Frequent reasons for such fine proceedings were, for example, violations of the mask requirement, the distance requirement, entry regulations or the quarantine requirement.
