5 municipalities in the north of the province of Luxembourg impacted by a broken pipe
“Following the rupture of a major pipe of the SWDE, part of our municipality (Villez, La Roche-en-Ardenne, Borzée, Maboge, Cielle) could experience a water supply failure by the end of daytime. These are the words chosen in the middle of the afternoon by Guy Gilloteaux, mayor of La Roche, to explain the incident which had just occurred on the territory of his commune.
After evaluating the results, it turns out that this pipe rupture is much more significant than expected. The inhabitants of the territories of Durbuy, Erezée, Rendeux, Manhay and La Roche-en-Ardenne are even invited to monitor water consumption in the coming hours. It would be good for them to have made reserves, because this line partly supplies the five municipalities. Fortunately, a secondary pipe provides the recovery. However, this second pipe only allows a flow rate four times lower. This may not be satisfactory to meet the demand of the inhabitants of these five municipalities, ”continues Guy Gilloteaux.
The consequence of the floods
The technical teams will be working long hours to put things back in order. “The SWDE and a subcontractor have just started the site which should last all night. In order to avoid the power cut, I invite the users concerned to use their water in moderation until the end of the day tomorrow, Sunday. “
This incident is a further consequence of the terrible floods in July. “The rupture of the large water pipe is probably the additional consequence of what happened. “
