D. Razauskas. Lithuania “in three letters”
If necessary, it must be possible to write a non-Lithuanian personal name in non-Lithuanian characters in another language in the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Lithuania. As a result, two draft laws have been submitted to the Seimas.
One bill proposes to always write the personal name on the first page of the passport in Lithuanian, as it is now, and on the second page – in any Latin-based characters, only that non-Lithuanian personal name can be written in the original: English, French, Dutch, Danish, German, Romanian, Czech, Polish , in Latvian, Estonian, etc
In this way, non-Latvian personal names have long been written in Latvia, and everyone is satisfied, even with the European Union. (In order to be allowed to write that non-Lithuanian personal name even in Greek, Arabic, Indian, Chinese, Tibetan, Japanese, finally Gudian, Ukrainian and Russian.) All requirements could be met: both the official Lithuanian language does not leave the official state document, and the non-Lithuanian personal name as written in the characters of his language, with all possible accents. In addition, the correspondence between the original and Lithuanian spelling and pronunciation of a non-Lithuanian personal name could be clearly established, so there would be no basis for misunderstandings and distortions.
The second draft law proposes to write the non-Lithuanian personal name only on the first page of the passport and immediately in Lithuanian, by including three additional letters among the Lithuanian characters: q, w and x. In this case, no requirements remain:
– first, the exclusion of the official language from the public document, which severely restricts its use;
– secondly, a common non-Lithuanian (even Latin-based) personal name can still be written exactly because, for example, the French alphabet still has the letter ç, the German alphabet ä, ö, the Danish alphabet ø, the Romanian alphabet ş, ţ, the Czech alphabet ø, and the Polish alphabet. ć, ł, ś, ż, Latvian – ā, ģ, ķ, ļ, ņ, etc. So the personal name will often be written than Lithuanian, than original and will remain distorted and open to further misunderstandings.
For several years now, the Seimas has rejected the first law, which resolves the issue in principle and satisfies all requirements, without even considering it, despite the signatures of 70,000 citizens collected for it, and persistently pushes the second leaves dissatisfied and society divided, divided, opposed.
Moreover, the media is almost completely silent or falsifying the project, praising the latter as “liberal” and associating it with human rights.
why?
Since the second bill does not, in principle, address the issue that is allegedly being provided, but has narrowed the state languages, confronted society and thereby caused great harm to the State, does that make any sense at all? What is its purpose?
And it’s very simple, it just says “animal language,” so it’s not easy to translate it into human language.
I will try to explain by example. Let’s imagine: the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania receives an instruction to pass a law that the Lithuanian state flag must bear the inscription “Lithuania is shit”. The project is presented, deliberations take place, coalitions are formed and dissolved. Part of the society is outraged, three old men are picking up posters at the Seimas, and another young young man is writing very clever articles that it is not worthwhile to adopt such a law.
But the law is stubbornly pushed, after long exhausting quarrels at the end of the occasion, and it is accepted. And what? Lithuanian soldiers lined up at the Presidential Palace, flying rifles, and a flag with the inscription “Lithuania is shit” is flying above them. And nothing. What is the meaning? What purpose?
And what was the meaning of the bodies of the post-war Lithuanian partisans killed in the squares of the towns themselves and the genitals pulled out?
As I said here, it is almost an aesthetic admiration.
As in the case in which the two public officials, having had too much to say, both died at once: drunk on a knee, and the other lay on the meadow, placed next to the evidence of his previous crime, and drowned in vomiting.
This is the beauty you need to have!
Also, in my childhood, everyone – before school, without knowing the scripture – knew what it meant to say “three letters” and send “three letters”. Reminder: x + y = й. Now this is x + q = w. I have no doubt that there would be no letter y in the Lithuanian alphabet, it would be q instead. And still there would be no four, not five, not two, but three letters. How can this not be understood?
You what, at all? Did you forget the language of the animals? Maybe remind you? So at Christmas, on Christmas Eve, the animals start talking…
Oh, and we would have made them that law just before Christmas! The gift is like this. Beauty! Only some laughter, apparently, the nerves could not stand…
