the garbage collectors’ strike hardens
The Toulouse-Métropole garbage collectors have not reached an agreement with the management. After 3 weeks of conflict, the trash cans are piling up and the movement hardens with several blockades of truck depots.
On one side as on the other, everyone stands firm: Toulouse Métropole offers 11 additional leaves in compensation for the passage from 25 to 35 hours for garbage collectors, the unions are asking for 34.
This morning the FO, CGT, Unsa and FA-FPT unions voted to continue the strike. The meeting yesterday January 5 between Toulouse-Métropole and the unions did not yield anything. The 3 hours of discussions did not allow progress in this conflict which has lasted for 3 weeks. Consequence: the movement hardens and the strikers block the truck depots to prevent the partial collection of trash. In the Minimes district, the Raison depot was taken over by strikers to prevent vehicles from leaving.
Even chosen in Monlong in the Mirail district where fires and objects leave the thirty vehicles at a standstill.
A phenomenon which could well intensify with other deposits possibly blocked like that of the Union and others which could suffer the same fate.
Until now, the interlocutor of the strikers was Vincent Terrail-Novès, vice-president of Toulouse-Métropole in charge of the file. For him, he went to the end of the negotiations. “Their request to obtain 34 days of compensation in terms of leave is disproportionate. We have proposed 9 and we are ready to go up to 11 days which is the case of the Municipal Police. We cannot go further. . ”
An end of inadmissibility which does not please trade unionists. They appeal to mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc to break the deadlock. “We are now waiting for the president of the city to take the file in the main car with our interlocutors, there has been no change. We even have the impression of going back. As long as the mayor-president does not will not receive the inter-union, the 2 Toulouse depots will be blocked “, says Benoît Fontanilles from FO.
In the meantime, the people of Toulouse are not ready to see the sidewalks clear. The conflict is gone to last and harden.
