Stopping the import of large volumes of food and feed leads to food shortages and significant losses of state revenues from taxes and fees.
This was announced by experts of the European Business Association (EBA) after analyzing the draft order of the Ministry of Economy “On approval of the Procedure for recognizing the equivalence of state control of the exporting country”, published for discussion on the official website of the Ministry of Economy on December 9, 2021.

To this end, the Ukrainian competent authority shall note the inspection of such production and the authorization to import products.
Or Ukraine recognizes the system of control over animal products that exists in the country where the production is located, which corresponds to the Ukrainian. This automatically allows users to import products from everyone registered in that country. In 2014, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy №118 recognized it as consistent with the entire system of control of the European Union, which allowed Ukraine to safely purchase livestock products from the EU and the capacity of countries that are credited under EU rules.
At present, there is a possibility that the import of food and raw materials of animal origin in Ukraine will be stopped.
“The reason for stopping imports may be such as the Ministry of Economic Development to choose the order of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy №118, which is provided by one of the points of the new document. in the EBA. .
According to the report, the new document to replace Order 8118 requires a rather complex procedure for recognizing equivalence. Therefore, it is difficult to count on the prompt recognition of the equivalence of other states. in particular, guarantees from external partners can be a significant obstacle, in particular that their control system complies with Ukrainian law.
“On the necessary law, a foreign body to study the control system in Ukraine, compare it with its own control system, etc. Therefore, the issue may be” slowed down “for a very long time. if it is adopted in January, it will be in force in January, ”the EBA stressed.
As compliance, the cessation of imports of significant volumes of food and feed leads to a shortage of products and significant losses of state revenues from taxes and fees associated with the import and subsequent sale of these products.
As UNIAN reported, Ukraine has increased imports of agricultural products by 15.8% in the first 9 months of 21 years.
