Last appointment of the Christmas holidays, the Epiphany returns bringing yet another day of magic to both adults and children. The recent provisions of the Holiday Decree, measures relating to prevention and safety from Covid-19, also this year limit the traditional appointments of January 6 in the city. However, museums, open-air places and theaters where you can access with masks and Super Green Passes remain accessible, with limited admissions. Concerts and theatrical performances are therefore confirmed, which can be attended on the evening of January 6, but also the many Christmas villages where you can safely spend a few more hours immersed in the atmosphere of Christmas.
Among creative workshops for children, guided tours with reservation in the undergrounds of Rome, puppet theaters and shows in the theaters of the city, you can carve out a space for recreation and realax on the occasion of the Epiphany.
Epiphany in Rome: the events of January 6
At the Auditorium Parco della Musica there are two events scheduled for January 6: the Opera dei Pupi by Mimmo Cuticchio and, if you prefer the tradition of popular songs, you can enjoy the concert of the Italian Popular Orchestra. La Befana lands in the basement of Piazza Navona, acting as a special guide for visitors. At the Museum of Zoology there is a creative program, with the 4-legged workshop in the sock. An Epiphany which, despite the necessary restrictions, brings traditions and fun as a gift.

Guided tour in the basement of Piazza Navona
A sweet Befana will be the exceptional guide in the basement of Piazza Navona. A guided tour for children aged 4 to 10 years, with a limited number (25 people maximum including children and adults) of the archaeological area of the Stadium of Domitian, located in the basement of Piazza Navona. Creative workshops at the Museum of Zoology

The Befana at the Castle of Bracciano
Two appointments with the Befana at the Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, at 11 and 15. Young and old will be able to experience and listen to a magical legend of the Befana with the help of characters and puppets, a journey into a parallel world made of sensations, sounds, music and words. The Puppet Opera at the Auditorium
On the occasion of the Epiphany in Rome, the show of the Opera dei Pupi by Mimmo Cuticchio is back, with a new show taken from the First Canticle of the Divine Comedy. Traditional songs in concert
A concert of traditional Christmas music will be played at the Auditorium Parco della Musica on January 6th. To stage it Ambrogio Sparagna and the Italian Popular Orchestra. Among the protagonists some soloists with their fascinating repertoire of pastoral and Advent songs and also some “street musicians” who create that fundamental sound environment in the festive period. Exhibitions of Nativity Scenes
Walking through the streets of the historic center, you can admire the International Exhibition of Artistic Nativity Scenes under Bernini’s Colonnade in St. Peter’s Square. in Settebagni, at the Tempio di Roma Visitor Center, visit the exhibition of traditional or Neapolitan artistic nativity scenes in a fairy-tale setting of lights and colors suitable for young and old. In Alatri until 9 January the 18th exhibition of artistic nativity scenes is taking place, which can be visited in the Civic Museum of the city and in other places in the historic center.
Markets and historical re-enactments
In the historic center of the village of Greccio you can visit the Market Exhibition of Crafts and Nativity Objects, traditional of the village. Also in the village, at 705 meters above sea level, the re-enactment of the First Nativity of the World is staged on 6 January starting at 17:30. Another out-of-town market, which ends on 6 January, is in the village of Antrodoco where the historic center has been transformed into a Christmas market throughout the Christmas period.
Theater show
At the Tor Bella Monaca Theater it is Enzo De Caro to seal the conclusion of the Christmas holidays and the Epiphany, with the show “It’s not true but I believe it”. A comedy by Peppino De Filippo set in 1930s Naples populated by a series of characters with unlikely names and which are somehow modern versions of the masks of the commedia dell’arte. At the Trastevere Theater, “La Banda della Marana” by the Partially Scremati company is staged. A nostalgic and true comedy that takes us back to the past, with an ironic look on those years from which the most disparate personalities from the Roman suburbs emerged. At the Sistina Theater the appointment with the musical continues, with the show “MammaMia!”. Paolo Conticini, Luca Ward, Sergio Muniz and Sabrina Marciano will be the benimini protagonists of the most famous musical comedy of the 2000s.
The Living Nativity Scenes
In the village of Civita di Bagnoregio last appointment with the crib, in which the historic center will be the suggestive setting for a trip to ancient Bethlehem in the days of the Nativity. Also in Ariccia on January 6 will be staged the Living Nativity scene hosted in the spaces of the Don Bosco Oratory. A return to the past among ancient figures and trades, to get to the Nativity hut.
The Exhibitions
At the Pratibus District an exhibition for all ages, that of the Balloon Museum. An installation project between gigantic site specific works, installations with a high rate of interactivity, shops and catering areas. The works of the Roman street artist Harry Greb are on display at the Exclusive Urban Art Gallery, in his first solo exhibition “In Your Face”. At Palazzo Braschi, the works of Gustav Klimt in “Klimt. The Secession and Italy” are on display. An exhibition event that marks the return to Italy of some of his masterpieces from museums and private collections.

In cinemas from the beginning of January comes the new film by Pio and Amedeo “Belli Ciao”, the story of two men who have been friends since childhood whose paths divided after high school: one went to Milan to seek his fortune and the other he remained in the South, in the country where he was born.
