🇸🇪 Sweden: English commentary on the Melodifestivalen 2022 Final
English comments will be given to the final of the Melodifestivalen for the second year in a row.
English-language comments will be given to the final of the Melodifestivalen 2022 on 12 March. This will be the second year in a row that SVT will provide comments to international viewers of the competition through SVT Player.
SVT has not confirmed whether the comment will be live commentary or live subtitling of the competition. The Melodifestivalen was one of a number of selections to provide comments in English in 2021, and UMK in Finland was also responsible for commentators.
Oscar Zia will be the host of the Melodifestivalen 2022. Oscar has participated in the Melodifestivalen three times (2013, 2014, 2016). Last year he hosted Semi-Final 2 in the Melodifestivalen together with Christer Björkman and Anis Don Demina. The dates for the Melodifestivalen 2022 are as follows:
- Heat 1: Malmö – Malmö Arena (February 5)
- Heat 2: Gothenburg – Scandinavium (February 12)
- Heat 3: Linköping – Saab Arena (February 19)
- Heat 4: Lidköping – Sparbanken Arena (26 February)
- Semifinal: Örnsköldsvik – Hägglunds Arena (March 5)
- Final: Stockholm – Friends Arena (March 12)

Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has continued to be one of the competition’s most successful countries. The country has won the competition six times, the most recent was 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the competition in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing in the final in 2010, Sweden has finished third twice and won the competition twice, only in 2013 and 2021 did the country end up outside the top 10 in the final.
