Toulouse. TMB has found its interior
Since the termination of Kiah Gillespie’s contract, post-Covid services did not correspond to the expected level for a WNBA drafted player, the leaders of Toulouse Métropole Basket were looking for a new foreign home.
After several weeks of research, they finally found the rare bird in the person of the American pivot Caliya Robinson (24 years old, 1m90) who left Charnay-lès-Mâcon (LFB) in December for personal convenience, she who certainly had struggling to adapt to life in Charnay (just under 8,000 inhabitants) when she arrived from her second Turkish D2 club, Mersin (more than 1 million inhabitants), after a debut in this championship in Ceyhan.
Born in Marietta (Georgia), she also played in Romanian D1, in Arad, and in Spanish D2, in Vitoria-Gasteiz and Logrono, after being drafted (28th pick, 2019) in WNBA by the Indiana Fever after a university stint under Georgia Tech’s colors.
This is not unknown to the Toulouse public since last October 19, the day of the elimination of TMB in the Coupe de France Joé-Jaunay (beaten 56-65), she had played a major role in the team of Charnay (19 evaluation, 17 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 blocks and 6 induced faults).
Caliya Robinson will make her TMB debut on Saturday against La Tronche-Meylan.
