Toulouse: a new vaccinodrome will open
Toulouse city hall is considering the opening of a new vaccinodrome to boost vaccination.
The city of Toulouse will open an additional vaccinodrome. It is the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, who announced it to “La Dépêche”. “We are looking for a place” specifies the mayor of Toulouse. This new vaccination center is to be added to the three existing municipal centers: Hall 8 on Ile du Ramier, Hall Barcelona, allées de Barcelona, and the municipal center of La Daurade. It will not be located in Hall 7 on Île du Ramier, which closed its doors last fall. The new communal vaccination center will be entirely managed by the services of the Toulouse town hall, and includes the recruitment of caregivers who will perform the injections. It should allow the acceleration of vaccination in Toulouse, in particular the booster dose. “We need a rise in vaccination in order to relieve the hospitals of the department. By mid-February, there are 600,000 people to be vaccinated in order to best combat the epidemic, ”explained the prefect of Haute-Garonne, Etienne Guyot, on December 29.
It’s urgent. Because the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the Haute-Garonne department is accelerating sharply. As of December 31, 2021, an incidence rate was reported of 981.9 cases detected positive per 100,000 people (1,298 cases on Monday, January 3) and 1,630.6 among 20-30 year olds in the department. In Toulouse, the incidence rate is 993.8 positive cases per 100,000 people, while the alert threshold is set at 50 positive cases per 100,000 people. And New Year’s Eve passed by, which did not improve the health situation.
