In some places, sensitizing statements were sufficient, writes the state police. Damage to property was found in some cases on New Year’s Eve.
Disturbances and quarrels in St. Gallen
Somewhat lively war at the turn of the year in the canton of St. Gallen, where the canton police have to deploy around 70 missions. That corresponds roughly to those of the past few years, i.e. the police. In four cases she had to move out because people detonated firecrackers or rockets against buildings or threw them at passing cars. A parking ticket machine in Rapperswil-Jona and two rubbish bins in Uzwil were also suspected of being badly damaged by fireworks.
In around 10 cases, there were disturbances in the private and public sectors. According to the police, they usually took part in a sensible way and turned down the volume or broke up the celebrations. People had to go to three locations because of personal life crises. Some of these will be assessed by a specialist. In six fallen patrols of the St.Gallen canton police intervene and mediate in disputes in the private sphere. In Sargans and Rapperswil-Jona there was also a dispute between bar visitors, in which, however, no one was injured.
The fire brigade in the canton also had a lot to do on New Year’s Eve and had to move out several times because of burning rubbish bins. In Rorschach, Oberbüren and Ebnat-Kappel, low-floor containers and in Heerbrugg a hedge also caught fire. In all cases, the fires could be extinguished quickly. According to initial findings, fireworks that were drained or incorrectly disposed of were mostly the cause of the fires. The total damage to property is estimated at several thousand francs.
New Year’s Eve is particularly stressful for animals. In this way, the canton police were able to convey two dogs that had taken Reissaus back to their masters.
