Homeless camp even bigger after eviction – BZ Berlin
They live in makeshift dwellings made of boxes and junk, and tarpaulin serves as a roof. The homeless camp under the bridge on Frankfurter Allee is growing and growing …
The district office only cleaned the sleeping area in mid-December. Hardly two weeks later the tents are back. And it seems to be even more.
“The places where homeless people settle are being observed. If there is a strong accumulation in places, between the short-term offices it IS agreed how to deal with it, ”said a spokeswoman for the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office when asked about the BZ.
And further: “It is always clear that. There will be no referral as long as no offers of help, including options for accommodation, have been directed to those affected.”
According to the Senate for Integration, Labor and Social Affairs, 31,364 people without their own apartment in state-administered accommodation currently live in Berlin.
