the strikers by intimidating Jean-Luc Moudenc
New Year’s bins are a good addition to those for Christmas in the green and blue containers on the streets of Toulouse and the metropolis. After two weeks of strike, nothing seems to be moving forward. Tours are only partially carried out, primarily in the city center and in the nearby neighborhood.
The inter-union announces that 90% of garbage collectors are on strike during these holidays. For the metropolis, it is 90 of the 250 garbage collectors who walked out, the others content to go on strike of zeal. They carry out their rounds at a particularly slow pace, in accordance with the requests of the metropolis, without completing the collections. If the end of the finished party seems well acted as required by the law which comes into force on January 1, strikers and management do not find an agreement on the days of leave allocated in compensation. The Metropolis offers two, an “insult” according to the unions who explain that the municipal police have 11.
The strikers by intimidating Jean-Luc Moudenc
We seem to be witnessing a dialogue of the deaf. For the metropolis and Vincent Terrail-Novès, the mayor of Balma vice-president in charge of waste and cleanliness, there are negotiations. For the spokesperson for the inter-union Benoît Fontanilles, it’s dead end and Jean-Luc Moudenc must take charge of the file : “Faced with this situation, we appeal directly to the President of Toulouse Métropole, mayor of Toulouse (…) We ask him to come to this situation directly negotiated with the inter-union since our interlocutors, from the beginning, practice either the empty chair, or The lie “. The union representative who believes that it is still possible to get out of the conflict with 2022 : “The administration has preferred to go on vacation for ten days, but we have to go quickly for the garbage collectors and the Toulouse residents. If the administration receives us tomorrow and we agree on the rate of hardship, Monday, everything is cleaned.“
For the moment, the mayor of Toulouse has not spoken on the subject. He left his hand to Vincent Terrail-Novès. We have asked for it in the last few days. No answer for the moment.
The opposition is also getting involved
Another proof that the file is getting complicated, the municipal and metropolitan opposition of the left are getting involved. A meeting took place this Thursday between representatives of strikers and elected officials. Marc Péré, mayor of the union, elected metropolitan who is also the former vice-president for waste, participated. He does not particularly appeal to Jean-Luc Moudenc, he asks for the respect of the garbage collectors: “They agree to lose 50 days of work per year, explain the elected, that’s the end of the game. But they ask, as for the municipal police which has eleven days of hardship per year, a fair price in account. They are offered two, it’s not reasonable“. Marc Péré who calls for the opening of negotiations:”We must come to our senses and not try to bring a profession to its knees. When they make proposals, there is no one across to sit around the table. They are told a next discussion at the start of the school year … meanwhile the trash is piling up … We need negotiations as quickly as possible “.
The Toulouse garbage collectors’ strike began on December 15, but has had real consequences for a week now. The conflict has actually lasted for a month and the start of negotiations on the end of the game.
