According to the material, which presents annual data on domestic energy production, supply and use, the production of primary energy sources in 2020 was 451,673 TJ, a decrease of 2 percent compared to the previous year. The production of primary renewable energy sources increased by 1.4 total, the production of primary fossil fuels by 5.7 total, and nuclear by 1.5.
Primary land use decreased by 1.5 compared to the previous year. The use of primary renewable energy sources rose 4.6 times, while the use of primary fossil fuels totaled 2.1 per cent, the use of nuclear energy 1.5 per cent and net imports of electricity fell to 7.2 compared to 2019.
A significant part of the source of primary domestic consumption was provided by imports of crude oil and petroleum products and natural gas in the total net import volume of 549,974 TJ. Imports fell by 12.9 percentage points in 2020 to 56.2 percent.
The amount of energy consumed by end users was reduced by 1.2 exactly. As a result of the pandemic, the energy consumption of transport 12 decreased compared to the previous year. The energy consumption of industry and the tertiary sector is also declining, while that of the population has increased, which is due to the weather during the heating season on the one hand and the coronavirus epidemic on the other.
With regard to primary renewable energy sources, the decline in biomass production and use observed in recent years continued in 2020, but the decline was small compared to the previous year, at only 1 per cent. The capacity of the solar panels connected to the grid was as much as 2,00 MW, ie it exceeded the installed capacity of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. In this context, energy production and consumption was 59.3 days higher than in 2019. The share of energy from renewable sources was 13.9 percent in 2020, an increase of 1.3 percentage points from 2019.
