SAN MARINO: Covid, the Secretary of Health Ciavatta resigns
The Secretary of State for Health of San Marino, Roberto Ciavatta, has resigned, also overwhelmed by the controversies, also internal to the majority by the measures to combat the pandemic. However, the government asked him to stay.
For some time he had been in the eye of the storm regarding the anti Covid measures in force in San Marino, a country severely overwhelmed by the fourth wave of infections. The Secretary of State for Health Roberto Ciavatta thus resigned on Christmas Eve, respite however after the holidays by the State Congress to which he belongs.
On 23 December he presented the decree containing the new rules to deal with the rage of Sars-Cov-2 infections. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back, as the local press reports, even for parties within the majority. For some time, Domani-Motus Liberi has been calling for softer and more modular measures based on the epidemiological situation. On the other hand, there is the health authority Iss which instead insistently asks for more stringent measures. The state hospital was forced to close ordinary wards.
Not to mention the political opposition which was even ready to dishearten the “minister” of Health of the Titan. And so Ciavatta, feeling he was surrounded, decided to leave his place to someone else. Decision that will now be debated within the government.
