Naples should be the pride of Italy
Among the many artists whose songs made up the column of “Statte a Napoli” also Gigi D’Alessio who thanked Alberto Angela.
The echo of “Tonight in Naples”, the program by Alberto Angela on the beauties of the Neapolitan city shows no sign of dying out. Yesterday, on the sidelines of a charity initiative for the children of Santobono-Pausillipon, the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Gigi D’Alessio thanked the paleontologist and television author for his popular show broadcast on Christmas Eve on Rai 1, capable of keeping over 4 million viewers glued to the television:
The message that makes us understand that this city should be the pride of Italy is beautiful. I was not nothing I was watching the broadcast and I heard my music, the song “Malaterra” dedicated to Naples, accompany those images. I got excited.
The songs in “Tonight in Naples”
“Tonight in Naples” was in fact not only historical images and arguments, but also music: the main song was obviously ‘Napule è’, a masterpiece by Pino Daniele. But there have been many others, among which the poignant one is also worth mentioning “Munasterio ‘and Santa Chiara”, sung right inside the museum complex by a very inspired Massimo Ranieri. Serena Autieri instead he sang “Reginella” in the Salone Margherita, Serena Rossi “Na tazzuella ‘e cafè” in the part of the program obviously dedicated to Neapolitan coffee. “Malaterra” by Gigi D’Alessio, is a 2015 song inspired by the “lights and shadows” of the Neapolitan capital. In Angela’s broadcast there was also space for the very young of the “Sanitaensemble” orchestra directed by Paolo Acunzo who sang “Black Tammurriata”.
