Florence Entertainment | Traces of France in the land of the Noble | Wine News
An hour from Florence and you arrive here … A volcano of enthusiasm welcomes us, Cristian Pepi oenologist of the company. Without delay he takes us directly along the rows on a newly built staircase and the reason is soon explained … (ps. Comfortable shoes). From a wonderful terrace that embraces the entire valley, the view is breathtaking .. Above the skyline of Montepulciano, the temple of San Biagio with its blue dome, under the rows that follow the line of the hills, at the bottom of the Amiata and on the right as from a fairy tale Montefollonico, where the festival of vin santo is held in December.
The Talosa company it takes its name from some historical facts that merge with legends: flower merchants from France from Toulon on the Via Francigena to bring roses and cuttings to Pope Pius II in Pienza. This is why the symbol of the company is a rose and the name is transformed into Talosa. Owner since 1972, the Jacorossi family was among the first to undertake the quality path that brought Nobile di Montepulciano wine to the top of Italian onology.
33 hectares host various vineyards, the oldest vineyard (of the manhole cover) was already present in 1969 and produce a special reserve. Between the rows a beautiful farm with swimming pool for hospitality … We go from clayey to sandy soils, here the selection is made for a wine of excellence, Long rows, while in the cooler areas the grapes are selected for the Noble Alboreto. The aging barrel and the Vinsantaia are splendid, an absolute temple of the secrets of every winemaker.
The Cellar and the tasting room are located in the historic center, 7 meters under the pavement of Piazza Grande. Arriving in the square in Montepulciano is a spectacle in itself, called little Florence for its buildings that remember it, but even more surprising is to discover that under your feet there is one of the oldest and most beautiful cellars. An intricate network of tunnels and stairways leads you to be amazed. Here opens a central room with huge barrels built by the master coopers directly in the cellar. Above the head you can see the architecture of the walls of Cinta, and below an Etruscan tomb. Finally, two wonderful sales for tasting.
The tasting includes 4 wines: Rosso di Montepulciano, Nobile di Montepulciano, Nobile Riserva and finally their diamond, the Filai Lunghi, all accompanied by a selection of cold cuts and cheeses and a first course. Final surprise: Cristian can give you one last treat: from one of the 3 barrels used for aging, he fills your glass with a preview … Tasting like this is priceless!
