Where do I leave my Christmas tree?
You can dispose of your old Christmas tree at one of the 1,100 collection points in the city. We collect the trees there daily from 3 to 16 January. The locations can be recognized by the signs ‘Hand in your Christmas tree here’. It couldn’t be clearer! Vosse Recycling processes the Christmas trees into compost, which is made usable and sustainable.
Look at amsterdam.nl/kerstbomen for a map with all locations.
Take it away yourself
You can also take your tree away later. You can do this for free at 1 of the 6 Waste Points. For opening times, see amsterdam.nl/ waste points.
Final destination compost
Christmas trees that are handed in at a collection location or at the Waste Point are sustainably processed into compost. To be able to properly process the Christmas trees after collection, we ask you to first remove all decorations and hooks. Please do not put your tree in the bulky waste. Trees that go with the bulky waste are burned.
Local advice
Also this year, several historic ones have arisen in the city where Amsterdammers can lose their Christmas tree. On the Vijzelstraat in the Center and on the Stadionplein in South, 2 large sales points can be bridged to form a return point. The employees are ready to receive your tree. Also in Nieuw-West there are sustainable ways to process the trees.
