Brussels starts the last trading week of 2021 slightly higher
(ABM FN) The Brussels stock market is expected to start higher on Monday.
The last trading week of the year is normally a low volume trade, many parties have already closed, and the macroeconomic agenda is just over. Today, the stock exchanges in London and Hong Kong, among others, are closed.
However, there are no guarantees of a quiet year-end and some investors have also kept a half eye on the omikron developments during the Christmas dinner. A lot of tasks, but also a lot less sickening, that’s roughly what the interim score looks like.
In the trading week leading up to Christmas, investors at least managed to develop omikrona concerns with a weekly gain of more than 2 percent for the Bel20. On Wall Street, the main indicator S&P 500 even closed at its all-time high on Thursday evening. Wall Street was closed on Friday.
The oil price was also on the rise last week and the US oil future is again well above $ 70 per VAT. In Asian trading this morning, the future is more than 1 percent lower.
The main Chinese and Japanese indices are slightly lower this morning.
Investors are looking today for the release of the S&P Case Shiller housing price index in October.
Company news
Orange Belgium reached an agreement with Nethys on Friday evening about the purchase of a 75 percent interest minus one share in the Waalseaar VOO. The acquisition price is based on an enterprise value of EUR 1.8 billion. On November 22, the negotiations were announced by Orange Belgium. At that time it was already clear that simultaneous Telenet would be behind the net.
Wall Street closing positions on Thursday
The S&P 500 was 0.6 percent on Thursday, ending at an all-time high of 4,725.79 points. The Dow Jones index gained one percent at 35,950.56 points and the Nasdaq gained 0.9 percent in points plus at 15,653.37 points.
