The operation of Prague’s integrated transport (PID) will cost the capital next year in the metropolis to 19, 15 billion crowns, which is more. This follows from the approved city budget for next year. The PID system integrates Prague and Central Bohemian public transport, which function as one unit. Both regions participate in its financing, each of which finances it on its own territory.
The total amount that the city will have to spend on public transport will reach a year-on-year increase of more than 1.56 billion crowns. The amount includes so-called pre-financed state subsidies, which should be 297.94 million crowns.
The largest part of the money will go to the transport company (DPP) under the so-called compensation. The city will spend about 16.7 billion crowns on them, which is limited to about 1.5 billion crowns. Next year, the number of kilometers that the city orders from the company will increase. It will be 180,229 million so-called vehicle-kilometers, which is about 5.4 million more resources. The number of kilometers will increase for the metro, trams and buses.

Public transport revenues are affected by the coronavirus pandemic, which has reduced the number of both domestic passengers and tourists. The decrease in passengers is associated with a drop in sales. “The draft budget for 2022 includes expected travel revenues at a reduced rate compared to the 2021 plan and the result of the first half of 2021 … According to the current situation, the forecast of sales losses is around 20 to 25 percent compared to 2019,” it is written in the document.
The city will give more than 24 billion crowns in transport on current expenses. Compared to this year, they are increased by two billion. It will be 8.29 billion crowns in investments, most of the money will go to the construction of metro D, over four billion. In both parts, transport is one of the most expensive budget chapters.
Next year, the capital will manage revenues and expenditures of 92.6 billion crowns, which is more ensured. Approximately 19.68 billion will go to the investment.
