City of Antwerp will vaccinate children in the Zoo: “Walking in the Butterfly Garden is better than waiting fifteen minutes for a chair” | Antwerp
AntwerpAfter the Christmas holidays, the city of Antwerp will vaccinate 5 to 11-year-olds in the Zoo, alderman Els van Doesburg (N-VA) announced this morning on Radio 2 Antwerp. The location was chosen to allow the children to take a fifteen minute round in a cordoned off part of the park. “The Zoo as a location is not a way to lure them, but to make it as pleasant as possible,” the cabinet said.
Last week gave politics the green light for the vaccination of children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. The City of Antwerp chose the zoo as the location. “We adapt the vaccinations to the age groups, for example, radio Minerva was on when it was the turn of the elderly and we used Tomorrowland as a theme with the young people. We try to make the shot as pleasant as possible for the little ones by giving them an experience in the Zoo,” says Michael Lescroart, spokesman for ships Van Doesburg.
no lure
Projected animals provide distraction in the closed cubicles where the children come with their parents. After the vaccination, the children are even allowed to walk around in the Butterfly Garden and with the monkeys. “That’s fifteen minutes for them than waiting for a seat.” Lescroart way that the Zoo as a location does not attract children. “We insist that parents are well informed and make a conscious choice around the vaccination. With the zoo, we just want to make the children’s experience as pleasant as possible,” he says.
The proposal will be approved by the Council of Aldermen. The children’s vaccinations will start in mid-January and will be filmed over the weekend.
