OMT member Bonten: Measures cannot be phased out yet • Lufthansa cancels 33,000 flights
At the GGD in Amsterdam they notice that there is great interest in the booster shot. One in ten people come to the vaccination site without an appointment, leading to long lines and chaotic scenes.
“We see the lines getting longer during the day, we work with specific time slots and have also set up our employee capacity accordingly,” says team leader vaccination at the GGD Mariska Poel in the radio program. News and Co. “It turns out that many people come to the vaccination location in advance for reasons, but do not always have an appointment.”
She thinks that there are now a lot of people who want a booster shot quickly to be able to go on holiday. But many truck drivers and driving school instructors also report to the GGD without an appointment. They often fall under the professional contacts and are instructed by their organizations to get an injection. But that’s not possible now if they don’t fall into the age group that was invited.
“We are now still looking at the years and it is important to us that we can be the first to get the booster shot to the elderly and the married in society. Without an appointment for the vaccination, it just makes sense at the moment,” says Poel no location.
Not everyone reacts even sporty to that. “Unfortunately, there is a small number of people who really have aggression and we have to bring in our security guards.” The GGD in Amsterdam has built up security, but that is not because of the aggression, but to be able to get out of the line outside if they do not belong there.
