Prague Airport today announced that it will extend the contracts of current taxi operators in accordance with the Public Procurement Act. This happened after the cancellation of the concession procedure, which took place at the end of September. The current taxi services Taxi Praha and Fix will thus be able to continue providing their services under existing contracts.
According to the contracts, taxi services must have cars in the agreed standard and quality of drivers. For example, the age of cars up to three years in the upper middle class in a uniform color as an option to connect to wi-fi. Drivers are required to charge fares in accordance with price regulation, dress code and must also correspond to the level expected by clients at the international airport. Another important aspect of the current contracts is the provision of airport transport services. Taxi operators must present the vehicle within five minutes of the passenger’s interest in arranging the transport.

“It is essential for the airport to provide this type of transport service, especially in high season. Even with regard to the time-consuming process of announcing a new tender and selecting a new operator, we decided on the option of extending contracts. Another advantage is that existing contracted taxi operators also have proven and trained drivers who have valid safety training. Obtaining them is time-consuming and organizationally demanding, and in addition could risk downtime during the replacement of existing leases. “ said Jakub Puchalský, Member of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport.
The airport plans to announce a new tender for the operation of a taxi service at the beginning of next year. To this end, new preliminary market consultations were held to address the bidders’ concerns already mentioned. thus, a business model could be modified, the suitability of which will be assessed with regard to traffic management, ensuring the flow of traffic at the airport and serving impulsive customers. The new taxi operator could then start from Prague Airport in the spring of 2023.
