People from Brabant have to go to jail for a few years for theft of expensive Range Rovers in Belgium | 112
A number of Dutch people have been given prison sentences of up to 5 years in the court of Bruges in Belgium for their attack in eight thefts of Range Rovers in Antwerp and two attempts in Knokke. A fourth defendant was acquitted for commenting on the facts.
A man from Knokke was unable to sleep on the night of August 21, 2019. When he looked out his window, he saw two men fiddling with his Range Rover that was parked outside. Niels V. (34) from Tilburg and Amando K. (29) from Dongen were eventually handcuffed by the police. They had driven to Knokke with a BMW with a Dutch number plate. Means inserted into the vehicle included a turbo decoder, with which cars could be unlocked.

V. and K. were immediately linked to a similar theft that had taken place the day before in Knokke. Investigation of the mobile phones of the suspects, according to the Public Prosecution Service, from that part of a WhatsApp group, in which Sareen M. (38) from Kranenburg in Germany and Karim M. (31) from Ribeek were also active. In the context of more agreements have been made for other thefts.

In addition to the two attempts in Knokke, the four thefts in Antwerp, Schilde, Herentals and Wuustwezel were possible. Expensive Range Rovers were stolen between June 11 and August 28, 2019. “The gang stole the vehicles as part of an international car scam,” said Attorney General Mike Vanneste, who said only three vehicles were ever recovered. One case was found in a shed in Prins, another was stopped in Ghana. The third Range Rover flipped over in the Netherlands when one of the thieves fled from the police with it.
Sareen M. was regarded by the Public Prosecution Service as the leader of the gang and was sentenced to 5 years in prison on Monday morning. Niels V. and Amando K. followed 4 and 3 years planned. Karim M. was finally acquitted on three counts for which he was on trial. For his integration in one of the attempts in Knokke, he was sentenced to 1 year in prison. A total of just under 120,000 euros in compensation is due to the redressing court.
