References to Bach and Freemasonry
Sung in German, The Magic Flute one summer composed on a libretto by Emanuel Schikaneder. Indeed, the actor and singer met Mozart in Salzburg in 1780. He even interpreted the role of Papageno at the premiere.
In addition, the two virtuosos were both freemasons. Some allusions to initiation rituals have even been made in different chords. The opera also includes references to Johann Sebastian Bach.
