Moldova will receive on Monday, December 20, a batch of 230,000 doses of Moderna vaccine, offered free of charge by France through the COVAX platform.
They announced the responsibility within the Ministry of Health, which mentioned that the Moderna vaccine lot will be received on Monday, at 11:00, during an event organized at the National Agency for Public Health.
On November 27, the Republic of Moldova received the first batch of Spikevax vaccine, produced by Moderna. At that time, our country received 50,400 doses of vaccine, donated through the COVAX Platform. The vaccine doses were received by the National Agency for Public Health.
The vaccine produced by the Modern Pharmaceutical Company uses technology that is based on messenger RNA. This type of vaccine teaches the human body to create the antibodies needed to fight the SARS-CoV-2 virus. In the Republic of Moldova, people over the age of 18 are administered according to a two-dose regimen every 28 days. The vaccine has been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for use in emergencies. At the same time, following clinical trials, this vaccine was 94.1% effective in protecting against COVID-19 14 days after the first dose.
As of December 17, in the Republic of Moldova, 960,828 citizens have been immunized against COVID with the complete scheme.
