Beware Muggles *, somewhat strange things are happening at the Parc des Expositions in Dijon. Don’t be surprised if you come across a Fallen Angel drawing cards, pointy hats wandering around, and capes twirling.
The Grimoire et Chaudron fair is being held this weekend in Dijon after a 2020 edition canceled due to the pandemic. A pleasure for the public and the exhibitors.
Satisfied enthusiasts
Whether they come as visitors or exhibitors, lovers of magical worlds are happy to find the Grimoire et Chaudron fair. Stéphane, a city caregiver and a specialist in potions on the stage, comes from Lyon to offer objects and jewelry taken from films, series and books.
After a few demonstrations and a magic trick, Louna, 7 years old, and her cousin Léa are won over. “I mentioned it because she is a fan of Harry Potter, like me”, explains Léa. They attend several classes, like at Hogwarts. Louna’s favorite? Spells!
New kids
But among the visitors, there are also curious ones. And among the exhibitors too, such as the Neuilly-Crimolois Twinning Committee, which offers potions that are as steamy as they are delicious.
Pop culture and much more
But beyond the references to literary or cinematographic works, the show offers many other stands directly or indirectly linked to magic.
For example, there are objects related to esotericism, on the stand of Sisters of the moon, with clocks, crystals but also decorations worthy of a cabinet of curiosities.
Many craftsmen are also present, such as Aline, illustrator, who offers her drawings and candles. The 22-year-old was rocked by this universe and the medieval gatherings and conventions. It was natural for her to come from Perpignan to be present this weekend. A great opportunity to promote his art and his shop.
And the highlight of the show, of course, the costumes. They have a special place during this show. Saturday and Sunday are held cosplay contests. Organized by the Chouette Costume association, this competition celebrates not only the outfits, but also the universe and the incarnation of the fictitious characters on offer.
Santa Desdemona, she exhibits the costumes she creates and her fantasy universe between two magical song lessons. His inspirations? Fantastic literature and history.
