A memorial plaque at Václav Havel’s birthplace has been held for two years now – Forum24
The city district of Prague 2 paid tribute to Václav Havel two years ago by unveiling commemorative plaques at the U Dvou thousand house on Rašínovo nábřeží 2000/78. This is the birth house of Václav Havel, in which he spent most of his life with a break. After assessing the various proposals, a simple solution was chosen in the form of a sheet of paper with the text “I lived here too. Václav Havel “, typed on Havel’s typewriter.
The ceremony will be joined by the former president’s brother Ivan M. Havel and his wife, the director of the Václav Havel Library Michael Žantovský, the former secretary of Václav Havel Vladimír Hanzel, representatives of the Prague 2 district mayor Jana Černochová and councilor Jaroslav Šolc, who initiated the board. On this occasion, Prague 2 also published a publication, Jigsaw Puzzle The Havels and their house.
“Prague 2 is undoubtedly a city district, which is small in size but of great importance. Many personalities were born here and lived their lives. One of them, and I dare say that one of the most important for our modern history, was Václav Havel. He lived in this house, which is even listed as a cultural monument – the house of the Havel family – and a new memorial plaque will be commemorated here from today. She didn’t show them as much as he did, “said Jana Černochová, then mayor of Prague 2 and the current Ministry of Defense, as part of the ceremony.
The circumstances of the whole project were explained by its initiator, the Deputy Mayor of Prague 2, Jaroslav Šolc: “The idea to create a memorial plaque arose about a year and a half ago. At a time when, according to the new rules of the capital city of Prague, honorary citizenship is no longer granted in memoriam. Consultations with the family followed, with former secretary Vladimír Hanzel, other people from the former president’s surroundings, and finally the project was implemented by Professor Petr Hájek. is today’s act, symbolically falling on the eighth anniversary of Václav Havel’s death. Therefore, I thank all those who contributed to the implementation of this project! “
