Mysterious poems have flooded Prague, their author wants to remain anonymous
The poems are the work of a single author who wants to remain anonymous. “I think it’s easier for people to confide in their feelings,” the author explains why she doesn’t want to reveal her name. Since the end of October, she has performed 26 poems all over Prague. Each of them then has a special QR code that takes readers to websites where they can answer relatively personal questions such as “Is there something bothering you?”, “Do you cry often?” Or “Did you steal something in your life?” .
Unexpected interest
Since the beginning of the project, it has been possible to accumulate statements from more than 2,000 people. “It started innocently, we expected only a few dozen people to respond to questions on the web, but more than 2,000 responded. Some answers are very inner and sensitive, positive, and very depressing. Due to the nature of some statements, we have established cooperation with a psychological counseling center, which helps us to respond adequately, ”explain the initiators of the PRAHO project!
In addition, art in public space has its own unique charm and is always surrounded by a bit of mystery. “Public space is here for everyone. Moreover, this topic is more than current at the moment, when we are again threatened with closing cultural places due to the pandemic, “add the initiators.
With positive reactions, the number of places where poems can be seen also increases. “Some are created to suit a specific place, so far there are 26 of them, but it is definitely not the final number,” says the author. In addition to the streets, poems now appear in subway cars, billboards and even some print media.. “In order to get the poems to as many people as possible in the project, we started working with Rekola and we put the poems on the baskets of their bright pink wheels,” says Simona Andělová, PR manager.
Own magazine
In the future, the authors of the project decided to publish the statements of the people of Prague with their consent in their own art magazine. “The first issue should be published at the turn of March and April next year. We are cooperating on it with the Papírna studio and also with students from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and the Academy of Fine Arts, “outlined Andělová’s plans for the future.
“Each episode will have its own theme. It will be a kind of statement of Prague for Prague. Inspirations. We also want to publish the poetry itself, photographs of poems in the city, an accompanying word from a sociology or psychologist, and other content that we do not want to reveal at this time, ”the manager concludes.
