Brussels welcomes ‘Urban Therapy’: A green, clean and social concept store
Urban Therapy has three Brussels shops in the Marolles, on the Vlaamsesteenweg and the Avenue Louise you will find it as soon as you step into one of the shops: the love for people and the planet. The diverse lifestyle products are selected with passion and far away from the greenwashing of examples. The young entrepreneurs with whom the two founders of Urban Therapy work together are all active with environmental issues. When purchasing a product of setting up a collaboration, Céline and Anis think about the smallest details, from production to transport to Belgium. During our visit, for example, we discovered that the products are not delivered by freighter, as is often the case. Céline and Anis opt for the most ecological mode of transport: the train!
From box to birdhouse
Moreover, just about all products in their shop are ‘zero waste’, by repurposing the packaging to make that product. For example, consider solid shampoos. But also the box in which a mug has been placed and which is given a second life as a bird house. Another example: wax strips that disintegrate in your washing machine and whose packaging is fully compostable. As you can see, Urban Therapy is more than just a concept. It’s a philosophy.
Social dimension
For Céline and Anis, the social dimension is even important as environmental values. That is why behind a number of Urban Therapy products there is also a non-profit organization of cooperative. A good example is scrub with cashew nut shells (tested and approved by us, by the way!). Anis and Céline work together with a cooperative that takes care of the women who peel the cashew nuts.
Moreover, the environmental dimension that is even close to their heart plays a role here too. The two Brussels friends opt for upcycling, by using the cashew nut shells that would otherwise be thrown away in the development of their scrubs. The circle is round!
In short: buying a product in one of the Urban Therapy stores is smart buying! That’s why Céline and Anis are organizing a competition to win a gift voucher of 50 euros! More information can be found below. Good luck!
