The extension of metro line B will also be delayed (and will cost more)
In light of the gigantic construction site of the third metro line of
Toulouse, the extension of the second, line B, makes less noise. But he knows the same avatars. The eagerly awaited Connection Line B (CLB) consists of extending the line by two stations to connect it correctly, at the level of the National Polytechnic Institute (INPT) in the direction of Labège, on the third line. And if the commissioning of the latter is already postponed by three years, in 2028, the planning of the CLB has also just integrated both “the effects of the health crisis” and a “delay in the negotiation of the Marlet “.
“Commissioning is scheduled for the start of the 2027 school year [soit septembre], with preparatory work that will start by spring 2022 ”, indicates Tisséo Collectivités after meeting its union council on Wednesday. The delay will therefore be more than a year, the last date put forward being rather “mid-2026”.
The market launched by Siemens
In addition, Siemens Mobility, the historic constructor of the VAL, was chosen for this extension. A consolation for the unfortunate candidate for the third line market won by the French Alstom.
The CLB, 2.7 km long, has also just undergone its last technical adjustments. And, between the delay and the modifications, the additional cost is far from being negligible: the addition climbs by 44.5 million euros to reach an overall budget of 227 million.
