In many Protestant parishes, according to the words of the Hanoverian city superintendent Rainer Müller-Brandes, a rethinking of the corona rules is currently taking place. The uncontrolled access to church services, even for the unvaccinated, can no longer be maintained in view of the current situation, said Müller-Brandes to the Hanoverian “New Press” – also with a view to the upcoming Christmas services. “With immediate effect, therefore, the services in the Marktkirche will no longer be 0G, but 3G,” said Müller-Brandes. Unvaccinated people also test themselves if they want to attend a church service. He thinks it is imperative to get vaccinated. Five services would be offered in the Marktkirche, four of which would be celebrated under 2G rules, one under 3G. Unvaccinated people with a daily test could also come to the Kreuzkirche. Lower Saxony’s state government gives the churches a free hand with the rules of access to the Christmas services. Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) justified dies with the exercise of religious freedom.
