after the CRS Alpes, the rescuers of the PGHM of Annecy are themselves also stealing equipment
Rescuers from the PGHM in Annecy were victims of theft on Tuesday, December 14, when they began their training at the foot of the Semnoz slopes, in Haute-Savoie. Police uniforms and emergency equipment placed near the snow front were stolen.
Four days after the damages and thefts committed on the vehicles of the CRS Alpes in Savoie, it is the turn of the rescuers of the PGHM of Annecy to be victims of malicious acts.
This Tuesday, December 14, as they were preparing to begin their early-season training at the foot of the Semnoz slopes, they realized that personal bags left near the snow front, a few meters from the vehicles had disappeared. .
“All the gendarmerie cars were parked in a public car park, there were people. And we were all in uniform, so clearly identifiable, 10 meters away. We were surprised at the nerve of the person who took these bags. around noon, and since then we haven’t found them “, comments Captain Etienne Rolland, commander of the PGHM Annecy.
Among the stolen items: gendarmes’ outfits, personal items, an avalanche victim detector but also emergency equipment belonging to a doctor from Samu present during training.
On the other hand, the vehicles were not degraded, unlike those of the CRS Alpes.
Michel Lanne, member of the PGHM and present at the time of the theft, let his anger explode on social networks. “After the damage to the vehicles of our friends from the CRS Montagne during a mountain rescue last week …“, he wrote on Instagram shortly after the fact.
“The personal bags were deposited near the snow front with the gendarmerie jackets stored inside, so we are not sure that the thief (s) had to whom these belongings belonged., tempers Captain Rolland. Usually, we are rather well perceived by the public because we are part of the rescue branch of the gendarmerie, but we are not immune to individual behavior.
It is difficult to know if it is an opportunistic theft or a malicious act against the police. However, the theft of gendarmerie outfits has been reported internally. And rescuers whose personal belongings have been stolen reserve the right to file an individual complaint at the end of training.
