why Monaco, OL and Rennes are not affected by the draw
This Monday, UEFA will draw lots for the play-offs for the Europa League and the Conference League. Qualified for the final phase in C3 and C4, the three French clubs (Monaco, Lyon and Rennes) will still not be affected. The reason is simple.
Like the Champions League where PSG and Lille are impatiently waiting to know the name of their opponent for the round of 16, Marseille will closely follow the draw for the play-offs of the Conference league this Monday.
For the three other French clubs still engaged on the European scene (Lyon, Monaco and Rennes), the day will be quieter since they will not be affected by the UEFA procedure.
The first of groups not concerned
Qualified without trembling in the Europa League, Lyon and Monaco both finished at the top of their group. A status that sends them directly to the stage of the knockout stages of the C3 on March 10 and 17, 2022.

Ditto for Stade Rennais in the Conference League. First in its group ahead of Vitesse Arnhem or Tottenham (depending on the outcome of the canceled match against the Bretons), the Ille-et-Vilaine club will not need to go through a round of play-offs.
Reversed from the Europa League to the C4, OM were not entitled to the same treatment as Bruno Genesio’s Rennes. Qualified for the Conference League play-offs, the Marseille club will not be seeded in the draw made on Monday.
Barring a bad surprise, Marseille will still be the favorite. All the remaining potential within the reach of Dimitri Payet’s partners.
