Prague will buy part of the assortment from traders from the canceled Christmas markets
“Clients and employees of social facilities or doctors will receive gifts,” said Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) and Councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09). In recent weeks, Prague 2, for example, has decided to buy goods from traders. At the end of November, the government banned the holding of Christmas markets selling trees and carp. People are also not allowed to drink alcohol in public places.
“Most retailers from the Christmas and Advent markets are now cashless. She bought, made goods, invested in stalls and now they have no income. The city needs to offer some form of support, “said Chabr.
Representatives of the municipality addressed the traders of the canceled Christmas markets, which were on city land, such as the Old Town Square. The packages will mainly contain Christmas decorations made of glass, wood, ceramics, straw, crocheted or bobbin Christmas decorations.
The donation will be given to clients and employees of homes for the elderly, the Paprsek Children’s Center, the Jedlička Institute, the Paleta Home for the Visually Impaired and other social services facilities. They will also receive ICU paramedics. “They would especially like to be able to spend Christmas in peace. Unfortunately, this will not be the case for most of them. This is at least a symbolic expression of the fact that we remembered them, “said Hřib. 600 Christmas packages will be set aside for medical staff at the ICU in Prague hospitals.
