713 immigrated to Liechtenstein in 2020, 432 emigrated to Liechtenstein
VADUZ – According to the results of the Office for Statistics (AS), 713 people immigrated to Liechtenstein in 2020, which corresponds to a decrease of 14 people or 1.9 percent compared to the previous year. 24.7 percent of the immigrants were Liechtenstein citizens.
The emigration in the year with 432 people was 3.1 percent lower than in 2019, writes the AS. In the group of emigrants, 47 percent would have had Liechtenstein citizenship.
1 401 people residing in Liechtenstein moved to another municipality in the country in the current year 2020. Triesen and Ruggell would have recorded the greatest increase. Here the internal migration balance was 38 people. According to AS, the municipality of Gamprin recorded the greatest decline with an internal migration balance of minus 34 people.
40 asylum applications filed, 41 rejected
In 2020, 40 people applied for asylum, nine of which were from women and 31 from men. In addition, 41 applications for asylum have been rejected by an instance decision (1st instance). In addition, notification of 24 asylum applications was ultimately rejected by a final decision following a complaint. One person was also recognized as a refugee and nine people were temporarily admitted.
