Construction of the bridge over the Prut Leova – Bumbata, a priority for the Government of the Republic of Moldova
Construction over the Prut River between Leova and Bumbata, in Vaslui County, is a priority for the Government of the Republic of Moldova, says the future ambassador of these countries in Romania, Victor Chirilă. He points out that our country is the first trading partner of the Republic of Moldova, but the relations between the two countries must be “even more dynamic”.
From December 13, the Republic of Moldova will have a new ambassador to Bucharest, in the person of Victor Chirila, who is currently the executive director of the Foreign Policy Association of Moldova. Chirilă, who also worked for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, but also for the World Bank, was also an international expert at the Reintegration Office of the Government of the Republic of Moldova on the Transnistrian issue.
In an interview with Agerpres news agency, the future ambassador says that, in the dynamization of trade relations between the two countries, the construction of the bridge over the Prut River between Leova and Bumbata, in Vaslui County, is a priority for the Government of Moldova.
“We really want to modernize and create and build bridges between Leova and Bumbata – Vaslui. We also do not propose to build a bridge in the Cantemir area on the Prut. The plans are big in these areas “, says the future ambassador. “We need a modern transport infrastructure, we need as many modern bridges, road bridges, railway bridges as possible,” the diplomat said.
“The Republic of Moldova is currently Romania’s sixth largest trading partner in the European Union. It is also Romania’s 34th investment partner. More than 6,000 Moldovan-Romanian enterprises have been created in Romania, with a capital of approximately 50 million euros. At the same time, Romania is our first trading partner. 27 percent of our exports go to Romania. I understand that this year Romania will overtake Poland in Moldovan wine imports, and this is something we are happy about again. Our imports from Romania are also around 12 percent. Romania is the largest investor in the Republic of Moldova. Currently, 1,600 Romanian companies with mixed capital are created in the Republic of Moldova, which have invested over 250 million euros. It is a very good platform to boost our relations even more “, says the future ambassador of the Republic of Moldova.
