Omikron appeared in Prague and Central Bohemia? And Vojtech wants to extend the pandemic law
“At the moment we have no other than the two confirmed cases in Liberec,” Vojtěch pointed out at a press conference on Thursday that the cases of the omicron variant from the South Moravian Region are suspicious and have not yet been confirmed by sequencing. According to Svčinová, these are two nurses, their two children and then two other children from another district. The suspicious case is also in Prague and another in the Central Bohemian Region, she added from the flight in which the first infected woman sat.
“All our cases are either asymptomatic or very mild,” said the chief hygienist. According to her, light cases are also reported in other cases detected in Europe. Four cases in schools, according to her they do not constitute a reason to tighten measures for them.
She also made sure that intensive tracing was underway. “All persons who have been in contact with suspicious cases are in strict quarantine,” she said and revealed that the hygienists are also checking an international water polo tournament, which was attended by athletes from the Republic of South Africa in the Czech Republic. One of the athletes, a Belgian, later confirmed the omicron.
“It really does seem to be very infectious, but it’s not more dangerous than the delta variant.” Vojtech pointed out. However, according to him, there is little information yet. “People need a booster dose of the vaccine. It seems that only the two are not enough, “he added.
Svrčinová it does not yet want to increase the number of tests (discriminatory PCR tests) that can detect omicron. At present, one tenth of the examined samples are examined in this way. “We have strictly ordered a 14-day quarantine. After 14 days, even those who had negative PCR, we end the quarantine by PCR test, “ the chief hygienist described what “extra” is still being done in relation to omicron.
Covid is not leaving, so the pandemic law must remain
Vojtěch also mentioned the pandemic law today. The Ministry of Health wants to extend it, it will send the amendment to the comment procedure next week. Without the amendment, the pandemic law would end in February next year. The ministry also wants to discuss the proposal with the AntiCovid team of the future government coalition, which consists of ODS, KDU-ČSL, TOP 09, Pirates and STAN, on Friday.

The ministry will propose an extension of the pandemic law for at least a year because he can assume that the coidemic epidemic will be here for some time to come. Vojtěch said that he wanted to send the amendment to the legislative process by a new cabinet in resignation. “The legislative process has its rules and time is running relentlessly,” he said.
The ministry also wants to discuss the possibility with the AntiCovid team on Friday children who test positive at school automatically receive a request for a confirmatory PCR test. Now he has to issue a request to a general practitioner.
