This year’s winners of 365 photo competitions in Hungary have been announced
The winners of this year’s third 365 photo competitions in Hungary were announced on Wednesday, and 15 applicants received prizes from a jury of renowned experts.
“More than 37,000 applications were received for this year’s competition, which is proof that the difficult period of the epidemic did not break the initiative,” said Csaba Dömötör, parliamentary secretary of state at the Eiffel Workshop, at the awards ceremony.
In the coming months, the works are scheduled to be shown to the public in several locations. The exhibition of selected photos will start on the Danube bank in downtown Pest later this month, the Secretary of State added.
The application could be submitted with individual pictures or series in three categories – nature and landscape, built and material heritage, and life pictures. The professional jury awarded three prizes in each category.
The first place winners will receive HUF 1 million, the second place winners will receive HUF 500,000 and the third place winners will receive HUF 300,000.
The chairman of the jury this year was Otto Kaiser, a photographer, and the members were Éva Keleti, a Kossuth Prize-winning photographer; László Haris is a photographer and worthy artist, a member of the board of the Hungarian Academy of Arts; Imre Potyó is an environmental researcher, winner of the 2020 competition, nature photographer of the year in 2018 and 2020; and photographer Balázs Szecsődi.
Based on the decision of the professional jury, the first place in the nature and landscape category went to Ákos Lőrincz’s Fog Border, the second place went to Esteban Sanchez’s Tejivó, and the third place went to Csaba Daróczi’s series entitled Windbreaks. Audience Award for Márton Kiss’s photo Start.
The special prize of the Hungarian Hiking Association was awarded to Kornél Makovics’ series Storm Hunting.
In the category of built and material heritage, the first prize of the jury went to Balázs Kovásznai Millions of Years in One Picture, the second prize to Zsolt Horváth’s Megyeri híd, and the third to Gyula Németh’s László Tópark series. Tamás Rizsavi’s work entitled Budapest Metro won an audience award.
The special prize of the Hungarian Tourism Agency was awarded to László Bella’s painting The Lonely Chapel.
In the category of life pictures, the first place winner of the jury was István M. Kerekes with his painting On the Margin of a Competition, the second with Béla Dusha’s Tribute to the Scientist, and the third with Szmolanka Leszja Me on Lake Balaton. The audience award was won by Balázs Papdi’s photo Hot Air Balloons in and around Szeged. The special prize of the National Association of Large Families Alexandra Zsoldos After the yes, the special prize of the Opera House was awarded to István M. Kerekes’ photo Start.
From Wednesday to December 22, those interested can view the 60 best works selected from the entries received at the Eiffel Workshop.
