Zwolle second jobs Zwolle engine of the Netherlands after Schiphol – Weblog
Zwolle – Zwolle has been named one of the top locations for companies in the Netherlands by the weekly magazine Elsevier.
Among the major cities, according to Louter research bureau, in fifth place, after Haarlemmermeer, Den Bosch, Rotterdam and Amsterdam, but ahead of Eindhoven (6) and Utrecht (8) and well ahead of Nijmegen (19), Groningen (22) and Enschede ( 27). . In the people-oriented sectors (care, education, retail) Zwolle is even in second place, with a score of 8.99 only slightly lower than Goes (9.03).
The annual survey by Elsevier/Louter ranks cities and municipalities on three indicators for the general figure: number of jobs, starters and added value. Where other frontrunners on the list often stand out because of their dependence on one sector (petrochemicals in Rotterdam, technology in Eindhoven and aviation in Haarlemmermeer), the Zwolle economy appears to be more spread out and more people-oriented.
“People here look to each other”, mayor Peter Snijders in Elsevier’s high ranking of his city. “Zwolle ranks first among the major cities in charities, volunteers and mutual relationships. You can feel that everywhere in the city, and you can also see it in the workplace.”
The quality of life acts like a magnet for highly trained personnel. Economics alderman René de Heer in Elsevier: “That is why Wehkamp chose Zwolle and not the Randstad. Vitens considered a statute in Utrecht, but chose Zwolle because of the availability of highly qualified personnel.”
“The space for growth in the Netherlands is shifting from the Randstad to the east. Zwolle is a prime location, where the knowledge economy has already brought hundreds of production jobs back to Europe,” you can read more in Elsevier. A lot of attention is therefore paid to Perron038 in the Spoorzone, where creatives, technicians and students meet and provide a new new branch of the successful Zwolle economy.
According to the list of researchers from Bureau Louter, it is mainly core cities that act as a magnet for new activity: “The top of the city is dominated by cities with an important function in the region. Amsterdam (knowledge economy) and Rotterdam (with the port) are “in the top ten. But Utrecht (place 12) has to give way to a smaller city like Zwolle. The position of cities above the list is largely due to an important service economy.” With more than 100,000 jobs for 130,000 inhabitants, Zwolle on Haarlemmermeer/Schiphol is the second largest job engine in the Netherlands.
The list also includes smaller municipalities, is added in eighth place; at a lonely height in the northeast of the Netherlands. Also on the list are Apeldoorn (13), Barneveld (17), Harderwijk (39), Nijkerk (42), Lelystad (51), Ede (56), Deventer (68) and Enschede (86).
