University of Applied Sciences removes power from two managing directors – salzburg.ORF.at
The change had been planned for a long time – regardless of the heated debate recently, it is said.
In future there will be only one managing director – instead of two for personnel and finance for 25 years. And that should come from science. The previous ones will be moved to the second row as authorized signatories. The college will continue to exist as before. The 30 courses are divided into six departments: Digitization, Green Engineering, Creative Technologies, Tourism, Health and Social Sciences.
AK manager does not see any “wild growth”
This should also end a wild growth, say students. Former SPÖ regional councilor Cornelia Schmidjell, as director of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor and owner representative of the University of Applied Sciences, sees it differently: “I wouldn’t call it wild growth. But on the contrary. It’s an excellent development of 30 degree programs. New models are now being developed for groups. That is certainly in the interests of all cities there. “
The coming year will be a transition year for the university of applied sciences. The structural reform should then be completed by the end of 2022. In the future, the state is to be more closely involved in the development of the UAS. Talks are ongoing.
Rapid development and expansion
Since it was founded more than 25 years ago, the college has been a success story, say its operators. In 1995 there were 91 students and only two courses, so today there are 3,200 women and men in 30 courses and more than 400 employees. Contrary to this rapid development, the organizational structure of the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences has not changed quickly.
“Managing directors remain anchored”
So far there have been two managing directors who were responsible for human resources and finances. Both were responsible for the scientific development of the University of Applied Sciences in coordination with the college headed by the Rector.
The 30 courses each have a director. So far, however, they have not been summarized thematically, says Director Manfred Pammer from the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce, which runs the FH together with the Chamber of Labor:
