Rugby rarity, South Moravian extra-league derby Vyškov – Brno is to be played in Prague
In the one-round basic part, the opponents compete against each other. The union is trying to compensate for this year’s end of four teams, which took place one more match at home, by playing the complete first round at the National Rugby Stadium in Prague’s Markéta.
After the basic part, the new part includes not only the play-off of the best quartet, but also the play-out for the team in the fifth to eighth place. The two worst teams are still waiting for a draw with the winner and the second team of the 1st league. The whole of June will then fall on the seven competitions. Autumn 2022 will then be reserved for the matches of the Czech Cup, which will be drawn according to the results of the extra league. According to the union’s leadership, this model was created in consultation with clubs.

“I do not agree with this extra-league game system in the long run. It’s practically the same competition as played now. The only change is to the playoffs. The argument that it will one day be played on a neutral field to have the same number of matches at home and away is basically nonsense when there is no retaliation. Informative meetings about the new organization took place in Prague and Moravia, but not that the clubs could comment on it. In fact, we were told that it would be like this and other models were not considered, “commented” new “coach Jimi RC Vyškov Pavel Pala.
According to the lot, the duel of the two best teams Říčany and Vyškov this year would be played in the second round again with the advantage of the home environment of Mountfield. The traditional South Moravian derby Jimi Vyškov – Dragon Brno also puts the lot in a very paradoxical situation. The prestigious duel is based on the first round, which is to take place in one day in Prague on Markéta. It is obvious that there will be at least an attractive spectator backdrop…
“I don’t know what I mean, and we’ll definitely want to do it differently. We will see how the leadership of the union will react to our proposals, “said the Vyškovan coach.
According to the representatives of the Czech rugby management, the system of entire competitions primarily wants to meet the needs of national teams, both sevens and fifteen for men and a selection under the age of 20. And he was inspired by models from abroad.
“We have decided to go the route of other federations, such as Scotland or New Zealand, and divide those competitions into two parts and it is short and intense so that it is interesting for the spectators and so that the players are able to prepare three-month two-seasons properly and deliver the best possible performance, “Pavel Syrový, a former long-time representative and player of Prague Prague, on the ceskeragby.cz website.
Participants in the men’s rugby extra league 2022 remain the same as this year: Mountfield Říčany, Jimi Vyškov, Tatra Smíchov, Sparta Prague, Prague Prague, Slavia Prague, Dragon Brno and Přelouč. The Vyškovs have a competition to play the aforementioned derby with Dragon on March 5.
“The early start of the extra league forces us to postpone the start of winter training. It is already gaining momentum, but of course there are possibilities in December. The classic and proven program will start after the new year. Let’s involve the athletic trainer František Langer again and Petr Tatalák will help us in the gym so that other faces are there and so that it is not just such a stereotype for the boys with Pala, “added coach Jimi RC.
