Karlín-Holešovice footbridge: The city will conclude contracts with land owners
The agreement with the companies mainly concerns the implementation of landscaping, replacement planting, ensuring the procedure of the flood barrier, the conclusion of lease agreements and the method of mutual financial compensation. At the same time as the cooperation agreement, the councilors approved a model contract on the right of construction, which deals with the location of the footbridge on the lands of RCP Zeta, specifically the establishment of the footbridge, pillars and abutment. The construction contract will be concluded within six months of signing the cooperation agreement.
Boarding the footbridge
On the Holešovice bank of the Vltava, there will be a footbridge on the Bubenské nábřeží in front of the gate to the Prague Market Square. In Karlín on the Rohanské nábřeží, it leads to a cycle path leading along a flood barrier. The footbridge spans 38 meters between Karlín and Štvanice and 149 meters between Štvanice and Holešovice.
Currently, people can walk from Karlín to Holešovice only via the busy Hlávkův bridge, or by detour via Rohanský ostrov and Libeňský most. They can also use the mentioned ferry. They can then get to Štvanice only from Hlávek Bridge or by ferry. The footbridge will also be a link for cyclists, as it will connect the backbone cycle paths leading along the Vltava on both banks.
Prague has opened a new footbridge from Imperial Island to Troja. The original collapsed at the end of 2017. However, Prague has a long-term problem with bridges. The Libeň or Hlávkův bridge is in poor condition and the Palacký bridge also requires repairs. The Technical Administration of Roads is now repairing the pillars of the busy Barrandov Bridge.
