Carols and Deník will be sung only online this year by Prague
“We already have over a thousand registered to sing carols, which makes us very happy, and this only confirms that this event of ours is already part of the pre-Christmas time in the Czech Republic. The Great Square, where the event took place regularly and where thousands of people went to sing, unfortunately had to cancel its markets and programs due to government measures. Nevertheless, this event will take place. When you can’t sing carols outside, people can connect online from the warmth of their homes, “explained Jitka Peroutková, Deník’s marketing manager.
It is Deník from the Vltava Labe Media publishing family that has been organizing the event Czechs Singing Carols for eleven years.
On the website ceskozpivakoledy.cz will start singing carols on Wednesday, December 8 at 6 p.m.
We will broadcast live and carol singing performed by the band Čechomor, so you can enjoy the early evening and sing along with it.
“We are already looking forward to Wednesday evening, for the first time other colleagues from the band will play and sing with us – accordionist Honza Kolář and bassist Lukáš Čunta. In addition, we will have a great guest, dulcimer player Zuzana Čechová, “said Karel Holas, singer and violinist of the band Čechomor.
“Of course, I’ve loved carols since I was a child. That is why I am very glad that the Čechomor group invited me to play the dulcimer with them at the event The Czechia Sings Carols. It will be a new experience for me and I am very much looking forward to it, “said Zuzana Čechová. On the same site there will also be the most up-to-date information about the event on this day.
The event is also traditionally supported by Czech Radio, where you can also tune in to carols on December 8 at 6 pm and sing on the radio, for example.
“This year, too, we will sing three carols, which we already know from previous years, and two, which the readers chose in the vote. They are I bring you a newspaper, Christ the Lord is born, I will go together to Bethlehem, Happiness, health, holy peace and the Wallachian Sheep Sheep. We will end the singing with a song Christmas, Christmas is coming, “Said Jitka Peroutková, adding:” I’m really looking forward to singing with you, even if it’s only online again! “(Red)
